Skin Free Skincare Promotes Bloggersgive.com

I just heard about an amazing blogger group called Bloggersgive.com. Now bloggers can see a direct impact with every product they send to Bloggersgive.com, as every item you can imagine is needed. They do have a list of products they would love to have, so if you are willing to set up giveaways and reviews with such products and get those companies to send us an extra product, go right ahead. But they accept ALL products.

Skin Free Skincare will be donating skincare products to Bloggersgive.com's first charity group: The Center for Courageous Kids. (www.courageouskids.org)

ABOUT THE CENTER FOR COURAGEOUS KIDS

We are a unique Medical Camping Facility where children battling the most serious illnesses can attend, free of charge. We run two types of programs. In the summer, the ill child (ages 7-15) attends a week long session with other children suffering from the same illness. During the school year, we hold family weekends wherein the child attends with his/her family. It is a fabulous opportunity for the ill child to come out of the shadows of their everyday lives and step into the spotlight with other children coping with the same challenges.

You can help to mend the scars of serious illness that no one else can see by giving these very brave children self-confidence, friends and magical memories.

Over 4000 children and their families will come year round. WOW!

OUR VISION
A world class medical camping facility in the rolling hills of Scottsville, Kentucky providing a cost-free, safe, and fun camping experience for seriously ill and disabled children and their families.

OUR MISSION

HAPPI Magazine Reports filing of lawsuit over unsafe ingredients in Baby Skincare Products

HAPPI MAgazine is a nationally published industry journal for skincare manufacturers. Yesterday, they reported the following information:

"Lawsuit Filed Regarding Baby Products
2009-03-24 07:48
Manufacturers questioned about ingredients used

Some of the nation's largest child-product companies, including Johnson and Johnson, Proctor and Gamble and Kimberly Clark, are the target of a nationwide class-action lawsuit by parents after a study revealed that many of the companies' products contain questionable chemicals.

The suit, filed March 19 in U.S. District Court in Chicago, will represent parents or other consumers who purchased any of an extensive list of products, if the court certifies the action, according to law firm Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro.

The findings were part of a study conducted by nonprofit, The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, which tested commonly used baby products and found amounts of carcinogens such as formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane. According to the report, manufacturers say the levels of the potentially cancer-causing toxins are so small that they do not pose a risk to the public, and are within government guidelines.

The defendants include Johnson and Johnson Consumer Companies, Gerber Products Company, The Proctor and Gamble Company, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Expanscience Laboratories Inc. doing business as Mustela, and Limited Brands Inc."

Problems with chemicals such as these are one of the many reasons that I began formulating Skin Free Skincare. Our Extra Moisturizing Liquid Soap and our Extra Moisturizing Soap Bar are free from all of these harsh additives.

If you would like to read the 32 page report from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics entitled "No More Toxic Tub" please click here. http://www.ewg.org/node/27698

As a pharmacist, my most important recommendation to you is to READ every ingredient list printed on every product you use on your childrens' bodies and your own. We are coming out of a climate of tunnel vision towards the dangerous effects of applying chemicals on our skin that have now been determined as toxic. We now understand that long term use of these products may have carcinogenic effects as they are absorbed through our skin on a regular basis. Let's be careful out there!!

Skin Free Makes Friends At American Academy of Dermatology Meeting

WOW!!! That's all I can say about the extravaganza of the AAD Meeting all the super big companies were there with no holds barred. Aveeno even put in a garden around their island booth representing all the ingredients in their products.

We met dermatologists from all around the world. One amazing thing caught my attention: Eczema in Infants and Children is an International problem. This strikes me as quite shocking. Why would an auto-immune issue like eczema be an international issue. I think this requires some serious investigation.

Skin Free was a great hit and we did manage to give away the 6000+ bars of soap that we took to distribute. Since the proof IS in the pudding, I think we will have a lot of converts to the products very soon.

One thing I know, our product line is definitely distinct in it's formulation and the dermatologists were very excited to see that. They were also interested in our placement at Walgreens.

Keep your eyes posted for Skin Free Products to start appearing on Walgreens shelves around April 17th. It may take a while for all the stores to get their product. Please let the managers know that you are excited it's coming!!

Thanks to all! Julie

Skin Free Skincare Goes to San Francisco for the American Academy of Dermatology Meeting

I am really excited about presenting the Skin Free Skincare Products to the Amercian Academy of Dermatology. We have already introduced the products to many doctors who will attend, but since the group has international guests and 7500 people have signed up to attend, I think we'll be making a few more converts.

The theme of our display is "We would like to change your opinion about soap." So many people, doctors included are convinced that chemical and petroleum based detergent bars are the best thing for sensitive skin. We will handing out 6048 full-sized soaps and brochures to as many dermatologists as we can.

Our friends from the National Eczema Association and the National Psoriasis Foundation will be there to help us spread the word about Skin Free. Our Skin Free Extra Moisturizing Soap was awarded the National Eczema Association's Seal of Acceptance last August, so that will be proudly displayed on our banner.

We've got a great location and my friend, Paige, is going out to help me meet and greet. She's also going to help me blaize a trail through some of San Francisco's finer eateries. We are venturing out to Chez Pannisse on Friday night. Life may never be the same! Wish us luck, Julie
