I was reading "somewhere" (sorry! need ginko!) that one of the naturopathic pediatricians recommended warmed olive oil accompanied by accu-pressure on the feet for that emergency earache that always comes late at night, on weekends, or just after the doctor's office closes.
I whole-heartly endorse this recommendation. "Sweet oil", aka, olive oil has been sold forever as a magic earache remedy. Well, I have to tell you, it's not magic and it does work and here's why:
*Earaches are caused by pressure on the very sensitive eardrum. Pressure is generally caused by congestion, earwax build-up, or an accumulation of serum or pus on the eardrum.
*Warm olive oil directly heats the eardrum, which can help relieve the pressure.
*If there is actually pus on the eardrum, you have a serious infection and the pain will most likely return. This condition requires medical attention.
*If the problem is congestion caused by a cold or allergies, the olive oil will take care of the pain until the congestion returns. The child should be receive lots of fluids orally and a dose of OTC allergy meds or antihistamines.
* Olive oil also contains a natural non-steroidal antiinflammary similar in structure to ibuprofen. This may contribute to local pain relief.
* Warmed oil may also help dissolve built-up earwax.
* The accu-pressure is a marvelous therapy if you know where the pressure points are in the feet. Even if you don't, a good foot massage is relaxing and can help get your child to sleep as the pain in the ear is relieved.
Extra recommendations:
* Warm oil by placing small container in hot water. Do not use microwave. You don't want to burn the ear. Test the temperature on your wrist before using.
* Don't buy "Sweet Oil"! Get the good stuff at your local grocery. Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is great for you inside and out. Buying a small bottle of low grade sweet oil at the pharmacy is a waste of money. It's probably old and not the quality oil that will have the NSAID moiety left in it.
* Never use cotton swabs in your child's ear to apply oil or try to clean wax. This causes a compaction of the wax against the eardrum and can cause mild hearing loss and pain.
* If you are out of Olive, but you have some Skin Free After Shower Moisture Spritz around, you can always use that. It's not pure olive oil, but it will do the trick in an emergency.

From Melissa's Desk: A+ Review for Skin Free Skincare
Melissa A. is a really cute homeschooling mom in Georgia with two adorable (but sneaky? or so she says...) children. She's married to the love of her life, which makes Life much easier as we all know;) She writes From Melissa's Desk,a review blog you might want to check out.
The one problem that the four of them share is really dry skin and the issues that go along. We sent Melissa our Skin Free After Shower Moisture Spritz and Skin Free Super Moisture Body Balm.
Here's part of her review:
"As the mother in a family full of dry skin issues, I was excited to try several of the Skin Free Skincare Products. And let me tell you, they didn't disappoint! These great products are 100% natural and free from toxins, irritants, fragrances, colorants, petroleum derivatives, and animal products. The products are also affordable and effective. Each family member used them and we all saw a difference in our particular dry skin issue within a few uses! I would definitely recommend the Skin Free products to anyone looking for skincare products that work!"
Who could ask for more than safe, non-toxic, affordable, effective Natural Skincare?
Thanks Melissa!!!! More to come, Julie

The Coupon Queens of Laurel Ridge Evaluate Skin Free Skincare
Miss Katie, one of the Coupon Queens of Laurel Ridge was kind enough to review our Skin Free Eczema Relief Pack, which contains Skin Free After Shower Moisture Spritz and a couple bars of our Skin Free Extra Moisturizing Soap and Shampoo Bar.
Actually she designated her husband as chief guinea pig and you know husbands can be a little skeptical from time to time. Not this gentleman! He says that Skin Free is "awesome"! It's great for his really dry skin and his psoriasis.
Katie likes all the non-toxic ingredients and the fact that it has no fragrance. So do I!!! She's got a lot of other great things to say about the products, so go on over and visit her site.

Skin Free Skincare at Walgreens
April 17th was the first official day that Walgreens stores would start putting Skin Free Skincare on their shelves. Those in the know tell me that in reality, the products may not make the shelves until May 1 and not all the stores listed on our website will be carrying the products until they see a demand.
That means you can be a big help in enlisting Walgreens stores to carry the product.
How?
1) Visit our website and check out the locations near you.
2) Visit your local Walgreens and mention the products you are looking for to the Health and Beauty Advisor or the Store Manager. Walgreens will be carrying the Skin Free Super Moisture Body Balm, the Skin Free After Shower Spritz, and the Extra Moisturizing Soap and Shampoo Bar.
3) If the HBA and the Store Mgr haven't heard about the products, they may not have had the products automatically sent out. They still have the option to order them, so please let them know that you would like the products carried in their store.
This will be a big help for Skin Free and for Walgreens to determine where the demand for product exists. In today's economy, nobody wants to waste time, effort or money! Thanks everyone for your assistance. And remember--you can call the store and not waste gas to get the same effect!!!
All the very best, Julie

Skin Free Skincare Now Approved by the Morris Bunch
Good Monday Morning to you all! I got an email from Gena over at The Morris Bunch Blog.
Gena is a great mom with dry skin and four beautiful children with sensitive skin. She's one of the moms from momdot.com who have offer to try my products and send out some honest, family tested reviews.
What I like about Gena's approach is that she tested the product over time to make sure that it really worked for her and the kids! Very smart approach.
As you can imagine, the Morris' are hooked on Skin Free Skincare and will be steady customers after this.
Please visit Gena's blog to see what she has to say! Thanks! Julie

Skin Free Skincare Soon to be at WALGREENS!
Okay, I know I should have told you sooner, but I've been working on this little project for a YEAR now and it's finally going to happen! WALGREENS will be putting three of our products on the shelf in approximately 2500 stores across the country.
The products that they will carry include:
Skin Free Super Moisture Body Balm, Skin Free Extra Moisturizing Soap, and Skin Free After Shower Moisture Spritz.
We're not certain of the exact store locations yet, but 2500 is about 1/3 of the total number of Walgreens stores. We should be in most larger markets across the country.
The new planogram is due to be set in mid-April, so I would look for these products in your local Walgreens around May 1st!.
